The Box play type for the Maryland Lottery Pick 5 allows the player to win by matching the five numbers in any order. The number before the word Box represents the number of possible winning combinations that the 5 numbers you played have.

So, for example, if you play four identical numbers and a different one as the fifth, it would be considered a 5-Way Box. This is because there are 5 different ways of winning by matching these numbers in any order. If we use 0, 0, 0, 0, 1 as an example, you could win by matching 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, or 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, or 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, or 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, or 1, 0, 0, 0, 0.

10-Way Box plays are Box plays with three identical numbers and one different pair of identical numbers.
20-Way Box plays are those plays with three identical numbers and two different numbers.
30-Way Box plays are those with two different pairs of identical numbers and one different number.
60-Way Box plays are those with one pair of identical numbers and three different numbers.
120-Way Box plays are those where all five numbers are different.
